Ryu looked around her establishment with a faint smile. Everything seemed to be running well. The Dragon’s Den was set up in sections. A sound resistant surround dimmed the light and muted the sound from the stage with a live performer dancing to music. The gambling area was set a little apart from the rest of the lounge, as well. She had two bouncers in each of those quarters to keep the peace.
The rest of the lounge had somewhat muted lighting and quieter music. Tables and booths created areas of conversation and the illusion of privacy. Some of the tables in the middle were more open, inviting groups to celebrate without the privacy. Living servers delivered the food and drink ordered on a screen at the table. The screens also had the option for summoning a server to talk before ordering. And then, of course, there was the bar with barstools.
Ryu filled several orders with a smile, handing them out to four young men celebrating…something. She mostly ignored their innuendos and suggestions that she party with them. Instead her eyes swept toward the entrance, waiting for a certain someone to show up. These boys were just that, boys. She had someone infinitely better.
............
After the Mok'bara training, he returned to his quarters to shower and dry off. He had heard jokes about how long it took for human females to clean and shower and get ready to go anywhere, but those people had never tried to get a full coat of fur washed and dried by hand. At least he didn't have to paint himself like some Ferasan. A tooth-sharpening might be more useful, though.
Cleaned, dried, and dressed, he preened over an unruly bit of hair before he felt satisfied.
The Dragon's Den. He wasn't going to ask her how she could afford it. After all, it was a given that he wasn't going to like the answer. He arrived at the bar, seeing the place as busy as it had ever been. The station had a run-down look to it, but clearly someone was putting effort into making this be the informal heart of the station.
...........
Mara makes her way out of her quarters. She was dressed in uniform, not quite ready to meet the base in her civvies yet. She enters the Dragon's Den, one in a line of clubs to check out before she settles on a place to spend a free evening. If she's lucky, her new ops chief won't have settled on this place for the evening as well. She could use a break from her mouth.
She takes a seat at the bar, since she is alone. She gives the dancer a glance, but really isn't in the mood. Maybe she should have gone somewhere quieter. But she hates when she gets mopey, and always makes herself get out. Most of the time, she's glad she did.
When she catches the bartender's attention, she orders. "Do you have orange juice that isn't replicated? That would be amazing."
.........
Ryu wasn’t telling where the money came from. But as Sh’aow came in, she smiled brilliantly, unaware of the change in her expression. The boys started looking around, finally following her gaze to the Caitian who entered. A cat? What in the…? Why?
Ryu didn’t give them a second look, just waving at Sh’aow until he came over. Then she half raised up over the bar to lean over and kiss him on the lips, wrapping her arms around him. The guys enjoyed the view, bemused though they were, since this exposed her thighs past the tight leather minishorts. They had a good look at most of her tattoos, as well. After a long moment, she released Sh’aow and dropped back down on her feet, eyes gleaming.
“How has your day been, anata?”
When Mara came in and sat down, Ryu tore her eyes away from her mate, turning to the next customer. She was still smiling brightly. And at least the music in the main area was nowhere near as loud or beat driven.
“Of course. I have other nonreplicated food and drink also. It’s so nice to have the real thing.”
She turned to grab a bottle of juice from the fridge behind the bar and in no time, a tall chilled glass of juice was placed in front of Mara.
“Here, I hope you enjoy. Is there anything else I can get you?”
...........
Mara shakes her head. There is nothing else she can get her. She drinks alcohol a little but prefers whole foods, not always possible out here. But she heard that unlike most ships, there was a lot of unreplicated food on the station.
"Thank you.
She notices the Caitian entering from the gym and waves to him, surprised to see him in here , a second time in the day seeing him and she'd never seen him on the ship. Then again she's only been here 2 days.
She drinks her juice.
............
Normally he would go to the promenade for Raktaijino and just watch the people filter by, but the new bar that had opened on the promenade was starting to look interesting. It certainly managed to draw a crowd. He wasn't sure if a crowd was what he wanted at this hour, after a night shift, but if he didn't try the place out now, he would probably never get to try it.
He rubbed his face as he entered the club. He needed a shave, and and he needed to lie down. The noise of the club almost made him regret going there. But he saw the first woman to give him a coffee shower in public, and that settled the deal. He moved up the bar, sliding up next to Mara, positioning himself between her and the Caitian.
........
She lifts her glass to Sasha a little. "Hey, have you been here before?"
............
Ryu smiled at Mara, inclining her head. “If you change your mind, please just let me or one of my servers know. You can use one of the menus if you’d rather not talk to someone. Welcome to the Dragon’s Den.”
Of course, as Sasha joined the bar crowd, she smiled for him. The screens on the bar listed what was available, if one wanted to look there instead of talking to the bartender. “Welcome to the Dragon’s Den. Is there anything I can get for you?”
No, Ryu was the opposite of a fighter, really. She was actually very easily intimidated. As for fighting skills, she had none. She did do yoga and pole-dancing regularly, staying fit and flexible. But all it took was a raised hand for her to cower back. That was why she had bouncers who could handle rowdy customers.
She genuinely loved Sh’aow, even more than she loved being the center of attention. And it went far deeper than the way his fur felt against her skin and how he could always satisfy her. He made her happy and appreciated the things she didn’t always show in the bar…her mind, her artistic bents.
“I’m glad the station’s behaving. And happy to see you. Ive been thinking about supper…but I’d like to hear your ideas on the subject. We could eat here. Marino says he’s dying to see if you like his cooking. Or we could try something else?”

His ship docked and he stood making his way to the door. The rest of his envoy getting things together.Departing the shuttle he made his way with his escort to his living quarters. For a time he would be staying on the base till he was needed.
He looked around his quarters and frowned a bit.He was used to much bigger spaces and finer things but he was paying a price for his mistake and would endure till he was called for.He watched as his envoy put his things away and then left.He would not have them to serve him during his stay. Finally he decided to take a look around the base and see what his new home would be like.
He pulled up a map of the base on the display and looked it over.He would pick out various spots to memorize the locations of and then make his way out.
..............................
He smiled back at the bartender. "I'd like a Raktaijino, please. Steaming, not scalding." He turned to face Mara. "Can't say that I have." He raised a brow. "Is that what you're going to spray in my face later when I make an inappropriate comment?"
He took the mug as it was handed to him by the bartender. He had noticed the Caitian before on the promenade, but this was the first time he had been so close to one. He saw an empty seat on the other side of Mara and decided that sitting was better than standing.
.................
Sh'aow noticed the wave from the runner. "Hello. You have a good step. Good pace, when you run." His eyes narrowed slowly as he watched her.
Ryu returned after serving the human that had been between him and the runner he had seen earlier. "As long as his idea of cooking isn't raw tuna or a slice of chicken, I am willing to try it." It seemed, the way you could tell if he was being humourus, was to listen for the deadpan delivery.
............
"I have no trouble with talking to people. I talked to you didn't I?" She gives her a weird off-kinda smile. Not hungry, thanks. Maybe later." She drinks her juice. The workout did her good. But she does wonder what she is doing in here. This is not her crowd at all. She'd be better off going to play a game of tennis or even kicking a soccer ball around. She turns her head when Sasha speaks to her,
"I'll try to keep my drink down and not spray it. That was very embarrassing, and not a good entrance to a new job. I'm glad you're not in ops."
She tries again to catch the Caitian's eye. Not a big deal but physical fitness is no laughing matter with her, and she is curious about him. Not in a freak show kind of way, but who wouldn't be?
"Thanks, I try to keep up. I saw you practicing Mok'bara. Not bad. As good as I've seen the Klingons do it." She wouldn't jump into asking any favours just yet. He looked awfully hungry earlier. She knows that look.

He made his way around till he came to the Dragon's Den.His brows furrowed a bit at the name but he shook his head and walked in.Pausing at the door to look around the room at what type would be here.
He would frown a bit again and make his way to a lone table to one side.Sitting to where he could see the room he waited for a waitress to come over.He ordered a spiced tea and waved them off.His eyes watched the room nit in interest but just in observation.
.....................
Ryu nodded to Sasha and soon he had his mug. Of course, she added the comment about enjoying it and just asking if he wanted anything else. The rowdy four boys from earlier moved from the bar into the central table area, taking over a table and summoning one of the barmaids to flirt with.
Ryu chuckled at Sh’aow’s comment, canting her head a little to the right. “I think I can guarantee that’s not on his menu. He doesn’t like sushi much, either. Says that it gives him the willies. Mmm…I think he mentioned he could have braised veal and roasted root vegetables ready quickly. He also said something about a soup and appetizer and maybe ice cream for dessert? Or would you prefer a cake or pastry?”
Her eyes danced as she mentioned sushi. She actually did like sushi but she preferred almost all of her other meat cooked.

Angelique Amata Juarez- Works at The Dragon's Den
When the Romulan came in, no one seemed to bat an eye. Ryu was behind the bar, of course, but one of the other servers came up to him, smiling.
“Welcome to the Dragon’s Den. May I get you anything?”
The Dragon’s Den was set up in sections. A sound resistant surround dimmed the light and muted the sound from the stage with a live performer dancing to music. The gambling area was set a little apart from the rest of the lounge, as well. She had two bouncers in each of those quarters to keep the peace.

He took a sip of the hot Klingon coffee. "I was asking for it. Metaphorically speaking, anyway." He grinned and glanced over at the big cat.
"You managed to run away from him? I'm impressed." He almost added something about Mara being quite a catch, if you could catch her, but since he hadn't actually caught her yet, in any sense of the word, it would be quite improper to speak in that manner about a superior officer, when addressing another superior officer.

Angelique Juarez
"Amata"
Angel just took the surly Romulan in stride, bringing him the spiced tea he requested.
“I hope you enjoy. If you need anything else, you can call one of us from the menu on the table or order directly from the menu and a server will bring you your selections. If we can be of any help, just ask.”
Since he’d waved her off, she then left to serve another customer, discussing food options with them.

He watched the woman serve his tea and frowned as she got very chatty now.He simply gave her a nod and picked up his tea to sip on it.His eyes slowly moving over the room to watch those in it.

He was used to curious glances and even the occasional stare. "Thank you. I was taught by a Klingon, and found it quite soothing. The mental focus needed to get it right is... Useful. It helps me keep my mind focused."
He listened to Ryu's telling of the menu for dinner. "I think ice cream would be better than cake, after veal." He wasn't going to admit to actually liking raw fish. It was too much of a stereo type thing, and he saw no need to feed the trolls. Not that Ryu was one of the trolls, but the walls had ears, even in a place like this.
......
She gives Sasha an odd look. She really doesn't know him yet, beyond one conversation. She doesn't know anyone here after 2 days, but that comment about the Caitian seems off and wrong and she looks up to see if the bartender had caught it. She seemed to be his girl. To Sasha she just shrugged. Part of being on a starbase is getting to know different races. Her parents would have slapped her face, either one of them for a comment like that. He probably thought he was complimenting her.
She turns back to Sha'ow. "I can tell. You obviously learned from someone that knows." She is quiet. She really isn't good at meeting a lot of new people right off, or other races, but she presses on, coughing a little.
"I know this is odd probably, and maybe even a little inappropriate but I wonder," and she leans a little, the club suddenly getting louder with music. "...wonder if you'd ever be willing to teach me? I'm sure you're busy. But I'm patient." She thinks to laugh at that. She can be pretty impatient at times, but in this case, she means it.
"Oh I'm sorry, I ask a favour of a stranger and did not introduce myself. I am Mara Cox. I just arrived on the base." Rank ensignia is on her collar, she doesn't try to explain further. But she looks to him expectantly.
Maybe she has something to prove to the others. It didn't take a genius to see that he is just a little less popular than the Romulan that just walked in.
.............
Ryu glanced at Sasha amusedly when he said something about outrunning Sh’aow. She honestly didn’t think a human could. And she was perfectly happy with that fact. She listened as she mixed drinks for a server and put them on the man’s tray so he could deliver them. And she’d caught some of the comment, but she knew Sh’aow wouldn’t do that. She was so confident in that knowledge that she simply had no jealousy.
When she turned her attention back to Sh’aow, beaming again, she leaned against the bar. Her hands, however, were busy on the screen in the bar’s surface. It was easy enough for her to enter the order and it would show up on the screens in the kitchen, along with who made the order and the table it where it would be served. “I’ll put the order in for him, then. Would you like to eat in one of the nooks here? My relief should be here in a bit.”
She just smiled at Mara as the woman asked if she could have lessons. Definitely no jealousy there. And Ryu was very friendly. “He is awfully good, isn’t he? It’s nice to meet you, Mara. I’m Ryu Tatsu, though mostly people just call me Ryu or the dragon lady. Again, be welcome here.”
........
~~ SB129 ~~
He sat sipping his tea and watching the people at the bar. They were obviously members of the base by their uniforms. He didn't care much for other races and thought of them as inferior to his kind. The at one made him raise a brow a bit though. He had heard of such beings but had yet to actually meet one.It didn't matter much to him either. The cat being was grouped in with the rest of the lowly beings.
He gave a quiet sigh as he thought of having to spend so much time around these people. He was not going to enjoy this and would more than likely spend most his time alone here.
....................
Sasha knew when he had stuck his foot in his mouth, and right now he could taste the socks. He washed it down with some Raktaijino and decided to keep quiet for now, before he got another foot in there.
............
Sha'ow
He ignored the young man on the other side of Mara. Clearly he was trying to impress his female, and doing a poor job of it. He did seem to understand when he was treading into dangerous waters, even if the Caitian wouldn't harm someone over words. Actions, that was a different matter. The syndicate agent came to mind again.
"Thank you." He leaned closer as well as she did, understanding that something of a more private nature was coming. The question was not entirely unexpected. "I would be honored to try and teach you. I am only an apprentice myself, but I could get you started on the path, and perhaps we can learn more together."
He had tried to teach Ryu, and she did understand the movements and had the grace for the routines, but when pressed to use it for self defense, she seemed to forget everything and just curl up. It made training to the higher levels difficult, and he had given up on the idea.
"It is my pleasure, Miss Cox. I am Sh'aow." He considered adding that he was a pilot, but that would too much part of another stereotype, that he discarded the idea. He turned to Ryu and nodded. "Yes. He doesn't need to rush the food. Quality takes time."
..............
Mara would talk to Sasha later but she really wasn't in the mood to deal with him right now. What she needed was a few rounds in the ring or to be able to give a few swift kicks to a whipping boy that likes it. Work after just one day has left her tense, and whatever tension had slipped away during her run was building up again. She is aware that she is not being very friendly, even downright rude to everyone, except perhaps to Sha'ow, but then again, you don't want to offend someone that is higher than you on the food chain. It's not prudent. She thinks about going.
She turns to the bartender when she introduces herself. She hadn't realized how loud she was. That always made her laugh, in a crowded bar when you raise your voice the most, is when the music suddenly comes down so everyone can hear it. She muses a moment. She used to be a lot more fun. What happened?
"He is good. It's something I'd like to learn. I practiced the discipline of Tai Chi in San Fransico. But I'm sure this is even more demanding, considering a Klingon's standards. I'm glad to meet you Ryu," she says politely. She's trying to get from bar to door without offending anyone else. She really wants to just go to sleep. Maybe a walk to wear herself out, a good long one. It's a big base.
"Thank you," she says to Sha'ow, trying to pronounce his name as he does it. "I suppose later we'll find a time to try that. I go to the gym often, usually early if I'm not on duty."
She pays the lady and rises, giving Sasha a look, a pause, then walking out the door to her walk and her quarters.

Sasha knew when he had stuck his foot in his mouth, and right now he could taste the socks. He washed it down with some Raktaijino and decided to keep quiet for now, before he got another foot in there.
