Monica Dorland
Personal log
Stardate 48975.1
I have been assigned to Starbase 129 in an effort to infiltrate the circle of those among the Bajorans not satisfied with the end of Cardassian occupation and a relative peace. I will find out what plans are being made to expand Bajoran territory and particularly find those who would be more than willing to shed blood in order to get what they seek. The Bajoran face is ugly and not my first choice of assignments. But I expect the mission will be enlightening and entertaining, and I know I will not fail. I haven't so far.
Monica places the necessary security on her own log and submits a report to her official log for the Starbase as well as a transmission to Bajor as required. She stands, stretches and looks into a mirror, dissatisfied. She eyes herself critically, turning, making a face that says something like, 'not bad' eyeing her chosen figure and hair. In moments she is in uniform and steps from her personal quarters into her office. She pulls up her itinerary for the day. The real itinerary is buried in miles of nonsense where no one will find it. Even if they did, they'd not understand the coding, which is her own.
Translated twice, turned backwards, then into the code she created while still being taught by Mora Pol. It had been a challenge to be a dutiful Bajoran and keep her spirit where it belongs, but she had managed to rise the ranks both in the Circle and also in the Federation. Gotta love that obsessive compulsive drive to work and succeed. She'd done it thrice over.
She'd never been caught.
Two former officers murdered within days of one another, both former flag officers of the highest rank, both supposedly under the protection of Starfleet security, and in both instances, Starfleet security had no leads, no ties to bind a conviction. The evidence was placed and she can be shrewd when she has to be, but they didn't stick. So SF is still poking around, and putting new security in nearly every week which just makes her job harder.
Then there was the Captain. The bunghole stepped in front of that nosy counselor before she could be hit. He wasn't the mark. He was too in the dark to be a threat. Now that he was out of commission, there would be a new captain. Her commodore was less than thrilled when he found out that Monica would no longer be running the base. Then again, it might keep her out of the line of scrutiny for a little while.

Ethan Reynard
*The Galaxy class ship more or less dumped him on station, it didn't even bother to dock just beamed him over. So with out much fanfare Ethan arrived at
station, once materilized he looked around and shrugged.
He'd been in much worse places, he didn't even bat an Eye when the lights whent out with a fizzle and sparks*
*With no one but him in the room, Ethan had to pry the doors open. Not surprisingly the Power seemd to be out in the entire section, with one hand on the
wall.
He made his way towards what he assumed was the center hub, from people he saw standing around none where paniced.
All seemed quite resignd with the situation, he saw some flashlights moving around. And mentally he chided himself for not bringing one from the transporter
room, finally he came to a door which he thought had a sign that said command.
Using his hands he managed to pry it open a bit to peek in*
..........
The lights are out? She shakes her head. Is that even possible? All the troubles they'd had on the station and this is a first. Hell it's not as if they are
going to fall out of the sky but it's starting to feel that way. She starts contacting every department for status, causes, and some solutions.
She sees a man's head, someone that she can barely see and does not know. She puts her hand on her phaser and steps forward, recognizing his face from his
file when she gets closer.
"Captain. Welcome aboard."
....
*Forcing the doors open so he can slide thru and with a nod to the room. Ethan looks around, taking in the room*
And what a welcome, is this *he gestures to the murky room* a common thing?. Or just something you put on for my sake?, if it is the latter i would just have
been happy with someone meeting me in the transporter room.
.......
Her face goes rigid, her expression blank.
"I am not responsible for the power going out Capain, but I will find out who is. As for meeting you, I was not told you were arriving today. I suppose you
are a big boy now, you can find you way. You are here after all, without too much fuss. Now if it wouldn't be too much trouble, perhaps you can go with me to
engineering and we can get to the bottom of this."
Her office is suddenly illuminated and she extends her arm in a sweeping gesture.
"Ask and you shall receive." And a hand out to shake his hand-
"I'm Commander Dorland. Yes, I am not Starfleet. But I'm sure you were briefed ahead of time on the situation here at the base."
.........
*He shrugs* yeah they said something about it, *Casually Walking over to a consol* As for my my arrival, it's hard to get any messges when things are turned
off.
*Pushing in a default sequence, it comes alive and pings away about several stored messages*.
So shall we have gander at engineering and see who's decided to show up for work today?, lead the way. Since you know the way there it seems quite prudent,
and safer from my Point of view.
........
She could say something about the console functioning just fine 30 minutes ago, but then she'd look as petty as he's being so she lets it go. Her first
impression of him was not very good, but inside she's excited to see yet another captain that won't be able to handle the base. It will make her job that
much easier.
She rolls her eyes and walks through the doors as they swoosh open, heading out to the corridor, and a lift.
"I suppose you were on a ship before you were assigned here? That is the usual attitude of anyone with this commission that would rather be on their ship."
........
*Ethan chuckels* I have basically just returned from a nice vacation, i had a real nice time at the New Zealand Penal Settlement. Nice weather and food,
although the Company leaves much to be desired.
SFC suggested i'd take this command, so i said why not. Beats a visit to Rura penthe, which would have been my next stop.
......
Monica stops in the corridor and turns, looking at his face. She tilts her head. "I must be losing my touch for reading people. Because that wouldn't have
been on even the top 10 of guesses. What did you do, punch out an admiral? Sleep with his wife?"
She enters engineering, finding the chief is out at the moment, only finding the young ensign keeping watch. After a few moments she finds out that the young
girl is not the one that caused the brown out, but is the one that got the power back on, and the auxiliary sources of power also singing at the moment. She
is impressed, and glad it was a female. It shouldn't matter, but it does.
"Good work Ensign."
.........
*He grins* Nothing like that, it's just a problem when you bend the PD enough to embarass a cardassian ambassador. *Ethan is actually proud of it, showing no
regret*.
*Once in engineering he wanders around looking at consols, stopping now and then punching up a status. Happy to let Monica chat with the engineers, so he can
get a view of the state*
..........
"Yes, it's interesting to find out just how sensitive a Cardassian can be." She finishes up with the pup and follows him over to where he is checking things
out.
"How does it look? I just got a new chief engineer who is starting this week. It's hard to keep things running ship shape without consistency, you know? The
revolving door in here is ridiculous."
...........
*He swipes some dust from a consol*
It would run better if someone stopped the clumsy sabotage attempts, this is Academy level stuff. *He quickly punched in a command, which made all the other
consols flicker for a few seconds*.
There with that gone engineering should run better, one would think people would know better ways to sabotage the station. Easier just to blow the Place up
than to play silly games.
...........
"Do you always draw sweeping conclusions on only one look? I will be sure to give the standard pep talk with threats in each shift today, and tell them to
tighten things up." She shrugs and steps out of engineering. If he is here to nose around for information, he's not going to get it by trying to get her to
brag about how good their infiltration is. She was trained too well for such infantile response.
"Is there anything else you need a guide to, or anything you want to discuss with me Captain?"
.............
*He smiles at her* If this is how you pep talk it's no wonder they pull stuff like this, *Stepping away towards the door*.
You can show me security, it's clear they could use one of your pep talks. Seeing as they are either sleeping on the job or just doesn't care
...........
"I won't be dressed down by you, or any other Starfleet lacky. I outrank you. I might be in another military, but I earned these ranks. And it wasn't wasting
time bantering with someone who can't get it up any other way. Good day Captain."
She exits the department and turns down the other corridor.
............
*Grinning he talks abit with the engineers and then decides to take a walk around the station to get a feel of the Place. It was really to easy to rile that
girl up, hardly any sport at all.
But it was all for a good cause, he really couldn't trust anyone. Considering the man he was replacing*
