Andrea
The sound of screams were everywhere. Squealing tires, and the smell of death. Her heart was thundering a mile a second in her chest as she fought to keep the hand clawing at her from it's target, her blood stained flesh. It was moments like this that 'Drea always found her mind reflecting on exactly how she'd gotten there. Being a paramedic was the worst job in something like this, she'd been exposed right to the front line, that was till people realized what was going on and how surrounded they really were.
She and her partner had narrowly missed colliding with the three car pileup right in front of them. David was always so much faster than her at getting his stuff and to the people, he'd been doing this for a good ten years longer than her, and as she assisted with pulling one of the victims out of one of the twisted objects of mangled vehicle, placing them on a stretcher and quickly getting them back into the bus to stabilize their condition. Thats when she heard the screams coming from up ahead, she didn't have the time to look and see, only now did she realize the screaming had been David.
No matter, she soon found her partner atop her, attempting to bite her, to chew a pound of flesh from her while her crash victim regained consciousness. Perhaps it had been a miracle that he'd been able to pull David off of her, but she'd watched the psycho-ed paramedic turn to attack the victim, blood sprayed everywhere, she'd fled out the side door, slamming it back shut only to find that the world around her wasn't much better.
People were screaming as these things chased them down, then the gurgled sounds of blood and gasping for breath. She was almost in shock at everything that was going on, but even that would be no refuge as David began pounding at the door she'd just closed behind her, trying to break the glass out of it, it began to shatter under the force.
It only took another look around for her to realize she was surrounded, she climbed in the cab and popped the gearshift into reverse, flooring the massive box and turning the wheel, things went flying around in the back, she could hear it, only assuming that one of them was the terrifying partner she'd spent the last five years with.
A quick jerk into drive and an equal press of the pedal down to the floor had the ambulance careening down the busy street away from what she'd seen. Her arms were covered in blood, her face, tears were rolling down her cheeks, creating clean streaks where dirt and blood had stained. She could hear things toppling out of the back of the bus, the stretcher, bags, supplies, she could only hope that in the end she'd lost her zombified coworker.
Where to go? Things were crazy everywhere now, people rushing the ambulance for help, but she didn't stop, and then one wandered out infront of her. She hit the breaks, slamming into the steering wheel and splattering the poor helpless victim all over the front of the ambulance in a shower of crimson across the windshield. She screamed, her hand cupped over her mouth as she watched the body lifelessly roll off the hood and back to the ground.
That was when the hand from behind her and come clawing through the tiny window behind their seats. She screamed and avoided it, squishing right against the door as one of the zombied bastards came right up behind her and smacked against the glass, clawing at it, roaring for her life. She screamed again, and then the glass shattered, pieces of glass came flying in, all across her face, in her hair, fortunately not cutting her.
Instinct was such a blessed thing, there wasn't a second wasted when she stomped the accelerator once more, bounding over the body infront of the ambulance and toppling the one trying to climb in through he window back out it and making the hand disappear back through the window behind her along with the sound of the ambulance doors slapping back and forth against the sides as once more the vehicle continued through the city towards the outskirts.
Across one of the bridges, and just when she thought she might make it, David's head came through the window in the back, along with an arm as he snarled and snagged a handful of her hair, ripping her head back, the ambulance quickly went out of control, all she could remember hearing was tires squealing before a crunch as the truck slammed into the telephone pole, slamming her forward into the steering wheel and out. A world of darkness blanketing her as she collapsed over it. David, fortunately had snapped his neck and hung lifelessly out of the window behind her.
Joseph
*Joseph had watched most of this happen, the small screen he held in his hand had transfered the feed from the underground security station. Joseph wasn't one ot enjoy being locked underground but it was the only safe place for the most part now that this horror had been unleashed by his own company. Hey but what are you going to do? Switch companies, yeah good luck they all were going to be eaten. He had been shocked to say the least when his security feeds picked up an ambulance, then again he knew what was coming and that blood and bodies would only attract the newly created beings.
His screen blinked as she nailed the telephone pole and stopped, he shook his head as he moved his hand up, his pointer and middle fingers raised as he motioned forward. His group of 6 armed security officers, decked out in full riot gear and M4 rifles moved towards the vehicle. While she was clouded in darkness bullets went flying as the small horde closed on the ambulance, the blood now dripping from her cut forehead bringing them to her.
Joseph slung his gun onto his back as he placed his foot on the side of the ambulance and pulled on the door until he heard it creek and finally lurch open. Her body so lifeless as she almost collapsed out before he could catch her. He moved her back into the seat to check her first, everything seemed ok except for the cut and maybe so bruised ribs. He moved her so her arm was over his shoulder behind his neck and lifted her into his arms.
"Pull back, we got what we came for." It was simple enough and the firefight ended as quickly as it began as the men moved back prepared to resume firing if the party came into danger. Joseph just shook his head as he carried her, she definately had good reflexes and reactions for someone not trained to do so. Perhaps she would be of use in the coming days.
Andrea
When Andrea finally came to she felt steps, movement. She was being carried. This she could tell long before her eyes lazily drifted open, she groaned a little as she tried to clear her vision enough to see what was going on. Her eyes settled back shut for a moment, she felt incredibly weak in all honesty, the way energy gets sucked out of you once you go unconscious and wake back up.
"W.W..What happened?" she managed to ask, her eyes looking up to the male carrying her, her hand grasping onto his arm as she tried to find out what was going on, where she was. " How long have I been out?"
Joseph
*Joseph felt her stirring already and smirked, she definately was a fighter to be awake so quickly. He continued to move only glancing down once in a while to see her eyes trying to focus and making him smile more as the moved closer to the elevator site. He heard her voice, weak at first but growing as she tried to gain control*
"You're apparently a poor driver, you hit a telephone pole. And not long really, I'm honestly surprised you're awake already since you weren't wearing your seatbelt."
*He had to give her crap, make this seem a little more normal then hey you were being chased by zombies and they tried to kill you. But that dream was shattered as gunshot rang once more as one jumped for them and his men blasted back. He shook his head and looked down at her*
Andrea
Andrea's ears sharpened to the voice. The description of her journey to where she was currently, being carried to gods know where. Terrible driver? She couldn't help but smirk slightly, even if it was followed by an instant throbbing pain from her forehead. Her fingers squeezed at whomever was carrying her as she heard the gunshots, she wasn't sure if they knew what was going on, all she could say was simple, " Keep moving... dead.. they're.. eating us.."
Her eyes grew dark again as she drifted back out of consciousness, at least gunfire meant that people were fighting them, fighting whatever was going on. She never thought she'd be so happy to hear the sound of mankind's machines of death.
Joseph
*Joseph saw her smirk and was glad to see that just before the shots were fired. They were close as the shots stopped once more and he looked down hearing her account of what happened...even as jumbled as it was. He smirked and noded to her*
"I know, we're very aware of the situation."
*He watched her slip back into her unconscious state as they reached the elevator, he glanced around and then nodded to one of the other men in the detail and soon the section of street they were standing on began to lower, as their waists began to pass street level the hole began to close around them in sealed above their heads not long after they passed it and the shaft lit up as they moved. It took some time before it stopped on the first floor, the security checkpoint and medical ward wher joseph took Andrea and layed her upon one of the beds. He figured it might be good to have him there when she woke again. He took the seat next to the bed as the doctor looked her over*
Andrea
Andrea had stayed unconscious till she was placed upon the table, lain out, and the doctor began to address her wounds. She'd been lucky enough to not get infected, despite the extreme percentage that would've suggested otherwise. As her wound was cleaned and the sutures began to seal the wound she stirred awake again, her hand snatched hold of the doctor's, causing the man to jump. Her eyes opened as she gazed up again, a bright light shining down on her, making her eyes wince as she focused on the faces above her. One she vaguely remembered being the one carrying her, but the other, the doctor, she didn't know at all.
"Those things?.." she asked, inquiring as to what had happened since she'd blacked out earlier.
Joseph
*He moved his hand to hers, his eyes staring down into her trying to make her let go of the doctor. He was breathing deep and slow hoping she'd match his rhythm and calm herself. "They can't get to you here. You're safe now." She was definately freaked out but who could blame her? I mean she was attacked by zombies, that's horror movie stuff not what you expect to really happen. He honestly wasn't sure what she was going to do once she found out she was stuck underground now too*
"The doctor's just trying to fix you up, make sure you're all good and healed so nothing will attract them to you."
Andrea
Andrea's eyes glimpsed over to the man who grabbed her hand as she grabbed the doctor's. All of them held in a vice with each other till she slowly relinquished her grip on the doctor. Her eyes calmed a little as she listened to the man tell her what was going on, and moreso what they were doing to her. She nodded slightly, she supposed she better let him finish cleaning her up as not to attract more of those things. She slowly relaxed back down onto the table though she was still held onto by the uniformed man who had lept to her bedside. Her eyes glimpsed him over as she gave a small sigh and tried to calm her thoughts now.
"Where am I?"
Joseph
*He smiled as she relaxed and as she layed down he let his grip go of her. He smiled as he looked down into her eyes and removed his helmet and dropped it into the chair*
"You're in a the medical station of Umbrella Corps. New York base."
*He wasn't sure what information she was really going to require and he didn't really feel like telling her this was going to be her new home...then again where the hell was she going to stay now? He really didn't think bringing someone nes into the compound over very well*
Andrea
Andrea nodded slightly, she'd heard of Umbrella, who hadn't? Especially in the medical field, hell, more than half the medicines that she'd ever touched were stamped Manufactured by the Umbrella Corporation. Her mind was racing, she didn't really figure it unlikely that Umbrella wouldn't have an office in the city, she just didn't realize the extent and that they were well underground.
"We've got..." she winced as the doctor finished the last suture.
"..to get out of the city.. those things were spreading rapidly when I was on the streets... they're probably everywhere now.." she stressed.
Joseph
*He nodded to her, she was definately correct in her thinking that was for sure. They were spreading like crazy, his screen that had gone from a few isolated incidents was now covered with their kind. He tried to look as reassuring as he could*
"There's no where to go, soon they will spread all over and the only place safe will be underground. There are no safe places to go, that's why we built these...cities underground just in case something like this did happen."
Andrea
Andrea's eyes widened slightly, " Y..You knew this could happen?!" she stared up at him in disbelief. Underground cities in preparation for this little....scenario.. She searched the Major's eyes for an answer, a word that she had maybe misunderstood what he'd said. She swallowed slightly as she let the doctor place the bandage over the sutures to keep it nice and clean.
Joseph
*He nodded, his eyes and face would show he was no more happy about it then she was. He looked down at her as he watched the doctor place the bandage. She seemed even more worried then he figured she would be*
"I was informed that yes this was a possibility when I took over as head of Security. Look I don't like this anymore then you do but it's what happened and this is as safe as it's going to get now."
*After all there was no leaving for her now*
Andrea
Andrea sighed a little and shook her head slightly before trying to push herself up, shakily sitting up on the table as she glimpsed between the two, finally settling her eyes on Joseph as he told her about how he'd been informed of this possibility. She reached up and gripped his bicep as she pulled herself up and off the table, a little wabbly at first before she glimpsed down her body, bloodstained uniform and all, she sighed a little and glimpsed back to Joseph and nodded, " I'm kind of a mess... can I get a shower and a change of clothes?" she asked him, looking up to his eyes, " Please.."
Joseph
*He looked at her and thought for a second and wondered if he could find anything that might fit her. Her touch on his bicep stopped him as he looked down at her hands and followed up her arm and nodded as he looked back into her eyes*
"I can offer my shower and we can find some clothes along the way, but are you sure you can walk? You took a pretty hard hit to the head there."
*He was wondering even more how she'd be able to stand up and shower alone now*
Andrea
Andrea's fingers kept a secure grip on Joseph's arm as she started to walk where he'd lead her. She was a bit shaky, but she was a fighter, definitely not about to let him carry her around like some invilid. She nodded to him slightly, "I'd just like to rest and forget about everything I saw outside for a little bit.. A shower sounds like heaven right now.." she commented, stumbling slightly but steadying herself as she tightened her hold on Joseph's arm.
"That is if I dont fall in it and get hurt."
Joseph
*He walked with her, his eyes watching her as she wobbled with her grip supporting her. He knew a nice shower made him feel better as well, but after something like that he didn't know what was going to help her*
"I was thinking the same thing honestly. Why don't you put your arm around my shoulder so we can do this better? If your grip slips I'm just going to have to catch you again and we'll be right back where we were outside."
The sound of screams were everywhere. Squealing tires, and the smell of death.
