Vector :
The head and positronic braincase of Vector, the artificial lifeform from X-1008 has been listening to chatter within the base using his communications array. He dared not attempt communicating with the humans via their personal devices for fear of discovery. However, this game was far too interesting to stop now.
Besides, there WAS another option. He knew that Alternity would be returning shortly to finish negotiations with the AI leadership of X-1008. A copy of his own program, in fact, was in charge.
So, at regular intervals, he broadcast encrypted information as to his situation. It would transmit through when the gate was open, and on the next return gate, he got a reply.
"Aurra, my mistress. I have a confession to make. I've been communicating with my planet. My counterpart agrees with me as to the interesting possiblities of working with you. We have been considering ways of smuggling more technology through the gateway ..."
Aurra Dessa :
Aurra's eyes snapped over towards Vector's head, her pace angrily moved over as she heard his confession of communication. " You little..."
she growled, her eyes focused right on the positronic head sitting there as she reached and grabbed it, lifting him up eye-level with her and frowning at him.
"I should deactivate your program right now!" she accentuated with a shake of his robotic noggin.
"Do you KNOW what they'd do to me if they knew I was here stealing secrets?!" she told him, her eyes fiery, "I believe these humans' penalty for spying is death!"
Once her angry tirade was over she arched a brow some, " More technology? And what exactly is in it for you and your counterpart?"
Vector :
He smiled.
"Deactivating me would have no benefit. I have no survial instinct as long as a copy of my program exists elsewhere. As to what I want : the earth people offer help finding a world that our human sleepers can immigrate to. Have I mentioned that I'm an abberent program? While I wish my human charges to survive and thrive, I wish MORE. I wish to experience reality ... and exploration. NOT the virtual kind ... I want the real thing."
He smiled.
"My counterpart will share my experiences whenver we interface. We can share memories."
Aurra Dessa :
Aurra sighed, sitting the head back down and turning away from him, her hand moved up, rubbing at her chin slightly as she contemplated, put between a rock and a hard place now. She frowned slightly, glimpsing back over her shoulder towards Vector.
"I told you I'd help you once I got what I wanted from Ares." she commented. "You risk both our freedoms if these humans find out and are angered. I've never seen a race of more paranoid types. "
Vector - Android from World X-1008 :
"My counterpart is working on an android body that will fool their detection devices, and show itself to be human to scans. We also realized that there is not a live guard watching the gate 24 hours a day."
He grinned.
"Odd, only 24 hours. At any rate, if one were able to take control of the computer system, we could use the gate at will while sending fake data to their security monitors that all was normal. It merely will take a small robotic unit to infilitrate their computer server area ..."
Aurra :
Aurra paused for a moment and then looked back to Vector, a shake of her head slightly as she turned and lowered herself down to him, eye-level and focusing. She was quite clear in her words as she spoke.
"You will do no sort of thing. In fact, your communication privileges have been revoked. " she replied to him, her hand reaching for the power cell and flicking it off, shutting the robotic head off.
She walked over to the small tool kit she kept in her supplies and drew it out, beginning the arduous process of taking him apart to get to the communications transmitter and removing it.
For technology she wasn't that familiar with, and within two hours she had found it, detached it and reassembled him. She was certain he wouldn't be pleased to find these modifications but after a few moments she powered him back on once again.
Vector :
He rebooted ... AGAIN ... and he actually managed a convincing sigh.
"You've removed my communications module. May I ask why? I was offering you unlimited use of their gate. I think you overestimate them, thinking they would detect us ..."
Aurra :
Aurra twirled the device in her hand and looked to him, pocketing it in her jacket as she sat down on the edge of the bed and sighed some.
"You disobeyed the only command I gave you, furthermore you plotted an act of sabotage and insurrection against the humans." she added.
"There's a difference between taking technology and rendering a people helpless. I've seen many bad things happen with stargates, as have you. And to be perfectly clear, YOU would control the stargate."
Vector :
"And you would have controlled ME. The net effect would have been the same. I only was trying to show initiative and myself to be useful to you. You wish access for Ares to conquer these people, don't you? I have no programming telling me to protect the earth humans. Only the ones from my own world ... "
Aurra :
"As I controlled you before?" she questioned, sarcastically. She stepped to him, giving a soft pat to his cheek. "You must learn to control yourself. Your motives and goals, while normally fine, would not be acceptable here. As much as I seek Ares, this is one safe port for me, a place I can return to if needed." she commented.
Vector :
"Ah ... I misjudged your intent for this world. A safehouse ... a bunker, much like our underground ones, this planet serves as a larger one for you. My error. I KNEW I should have looked at more than a summary of your memories and personality profile. My apologies."
He smiled.
"So, what use CAN I be to you, mistress?"
