He was on my way to see Diana, if anything if he assists her in escaping then she would keep him by her side. He is one of hers after all. Still armed, in case he needed to use force to get her out, these humans tend to want to hold onto things that do not belong to them, even when they understand that they can't hold her indefinitely, they are always looking for something they can use her for.
This is the only reason I returned, because that chicken was right, I am young and have no power of my own and this is my way to gain it.

Maxwell was at the break station for the guards in the security VIP section. He was pouring some coffee, and looking annoyed. God, he wished he had some chew.
Hearing a faint noise he looked up and saw Jean.
"Hey bud, ya worried me back on on the last away mission. Next time leave a note or something before ya go exploring."
He was one to talk ... he'd wandered off multiple times.
"Come to check on the goddess. I'm kind of at a dead end with her. The powers that be won't give me an audience to promote letting her go.
Which we NEED to do ... did you hear what happened?"
--
He ignored Max on my way to Diana's door until he remembered that I shouldn't ignore him. I stop and look at him with a slight frown. "She has been released."
He decided, by the time he confirms he'll be in and out and both Diana and he will be off this planet.
'He'll be lucky if I don't kill him on my way out, this place is a Hellhole and I know it would bring Jean no end of torment if I did.'
Jean smirked.
--
Max sighed and relaxed.
"You mean a glimmer of common sense trickled upstream to the execs? About d**ned time. All we needed was to start an intergalactic war. In fact, I think we OWE Diana's people big time. I think they took out Ra for us .."
He tossed the coffee in the sink.
"Come one, let's spring a goddess out of solitary ..."
Odd they'd sent Jean. How short handed WERE they?
"Uh ... we can't send her back to Abydos. I kinda blew up the dialer and temple on the other side. But I'm sure she knows a friendly planet to go to ..."
--
"I am certain there will be no problem, we can even escort her off world to a location of her choice." It doesn't take long for me to punch in the access code to enter Diana's room. I open the door but I let Max enter first as he is the senior officer. "Age before beauty."
Not something I would normally say but Jean is still very present in here with me and right now he is screaming and giving me a headache trying to take contole.
--
He laughed.
"Sorry, I told the goddess I wouldn't enter without her permission. And she hasn't done so ..."
He bowed and stood to the side.
"Goddess, the bosses finally okayed my recommendation that we had no right to hold you. My extreme apologies for the delay. We don't have rulers and the delays of human government are aggravating at time. We ask that you don't hold our slow thinking against us ..."
--
Having retired in her pacing, Diana now sat on the far side of the room. Her back was to the corner, the steel chair she sat in propped up against it. Her eyes were fixed upon the door as she sat on the edge of the chair. Her back was ramrod straight, her hands resting on her lap.
She could have been a statue, but the rise and fall of her chest as she breathed gave away that she was indeed alive. Her now shallow features held a look of discontent. It was very clear that she was unhappy.
When the doors opened, her eyes focused on the two that stood before the threshold. She recognized the older looking one, Max, but the younger one that lingered behind him was a face she did not know. As they entered, however, she suddenly realized that she knew the younger of the two.
It was easy for her to recognize one of her own species, even if they were very young. It was apparent that one of the symbiotes from the dead
Jaffa was still alive and well.
Though she was slightly pleased to see the young one had survived, Diana was as equally displeased. This Goa’uld was far too young and the apparent struggle that it was having was very obvious to the older symbiote inside Diana. This issue would have to be addressed once they were back among their own.
Looking back to Max, Diana studied him with a critical eye. His words fell on slight deaf ears. She doubted that these people would give her freedom this easily, and her eyes shown her skepticism. Slowly, she stood from her chair and moved forward towards the pair. Her bare feet left no sound as she move across the smooth steel surface. “I reserve my right to judge your people when I am free of this place. The sooner that is.. maybe the sooner that all is forgotten?”
Her eyes flickered back to Jean. Standing a few feet from them, she could see the young symbiote had some control over the body it was in.
Seeing as it had a weapon, Diana waited to see if the young one would act.
--
I incline my head respectfully to her behind Max' back, I wish we could have retrieved her weapons and deceased guards but there was a certain urgency to seeing her freed first. "If you please, my Lady, we are ready to escort you to a world of your choosing."
--
He took a cue from Jean. Kid seems to know how to talk to royalty.
"Milday. I'm afraid the Abydos temple and dialer were destroyed. But you can dial to any neutral location and then dial to your home base. We owe you a debt of thanks ... I believe it may have been YOUR people who killed Ra for us. Earth has excellent agriculture. Perhaps we could trade with you and yours ... an army needs supplies. We are very grateful."
He turned and lead the way toward the gateroom, nodding to the guards who looked curious but said nothing.
--
Something was up, that was rather easy to tell by who the symbiote in Jean spoke to her. Not willing to waste the precious time they had, Diana looked towards Max. Obviously Max was not seeing what was going on, which in turn worked better for Diana and Jean’s symbiote. The more clueless he remained, the better this would work.
Following Max out of the room, Diana digested what he had said. Ra had been destroyed? Obviously her men had attacked the System Lord and dispatched him. Though it was not terrible news, the information was not good news either. The System Lords and there power was often looked at as a checks and balances system. With one now eliminated, it was hard to tell how the powers would shift about the systems.
“I know the planet on which I want to travel too… provide the dialer and I shall go there immediately.” Her eyes remained focused on the back of Max’s head as they walked. Ignoring those they passed in the hall, Diana started to think of just how she would get Jean to travel with her.
This was a delicate situation and each move she made would have to be carefully calculated. Though these Tau’Ri were problem children of sorts, in the future they could be possible allies. It would be in her best interest not to not make this any worse… if possible.
--
Getting the dialing sequence to the control room by radio they wait at the end of the ramp as the gate dials another world. "We will accompany you, of course, as you have no guards, we wish to take certain precautions with your safety, right, Max?" I look at him wondering if he would jump at the chance for another trip off world. I wish he would decline, in fact, I wish he would get a clue so I could have some excuse to shoot him.
--
Max shook his head.
"This is a world of Diana's choosing. It could be her military base. While I respect the goddess, we so far have done little to earn her hospitality. I'm hoping we can remedy that with some agricultural trade. Obviously, she would have no use for our inferior tech. But to step through blindly would only prove to her that we're fools."
Of course nothing would prevent Jean from jumping through right before the gate closed.
"Goddess Diana, we again beg your forgiveness for the assault on your person. Even though it was a combat zone, we should have noticed the difference in attire. I hope we can make it up to you in the future ..."
He bowed.
Something ... didn't see quite right. Why did Jean want to step through. Maybe he wanted to explore. Max had the itch himself ... and they'd soon be doing the Lewis and Clark together ...
--
Diana listened to what ‘Jean’ said. Though it had merit, there was no need for either of them to really venture through the gate with her. Her attention focused on the gate as it opened, the large pool of what looked to be crystal clear water pooling inside the large ring and reflecting off the surfaces in the room.
Briefly she glanced at Jean before turning to look at Max. “It will take time to forgive the indiscretions that had fallen upon myself and my guard. As a show of respect for me and the Olympian Guard, I will ask that you respectfully return what is ours.”
Diana’s eyes left Max as she looked over the room that housed the gate. For a brief moment she looked up to the control room that she assumed had activated the gate. After a moment, she looked back at Max. “The gate will open again in two days time, as according to your planet’s rotation. Please make all the necessary preparations to return what does not belong to your people.”
Her words were not hostile, but the tone was not a request either. Diana would assume that Max would have his people follow through and return what did not belong to them. It was not really a matter of if they were ready for such a technology. They items did not belong to them and clearly in Diana’s mind it was purely theft. Even though an act against her was death, she would not hold that penalty against these people this time. They were cut off from the universe for such a long time that they would not know the basic laws that had been written since they were severed from the others.
“No hostilities will be seen when you have returned of what has been taken.” With a final glance to Max, Diana’s attention glanced to Jean.
“You will see me through to the other side. Once there…. You may return here.” Again Diana looked to Max. “A sign of… faith. No hostilities.
Two Rotations, no more… no less.”
Without waiting for a response, Diana turned and walked up the catwalk. Quickly she disappeared into the reflective pool and was transported away from the planet.
--
"Well, in the spirit of intergalactic peace and all that.." I run past Max, turning around once I reach the event horizon and smirk before
walking through and vanishing, just then the alarms go off and someone is shouting about there being no such orders, the gate closes and Jean and Diana are gone.
--
Max stood dumbfounded ... and stared at the gate. Ah ... this will NOT be looking good on my performance evaluation. On the plus side, we probably averted an interstellar war.
This is the only reason I returned, because that chicken was right, I am young and have no power of my own and this is my way to gain it.
