Max smiled and walked over to Diana.
"Alone at last. So you're saying the gates have some sort of redial or caller id?"
He offered a hand up, though it was probably refused.
"d**n, you ARE a pretty lady. So ... you and the Goa'ould pretty tight friends? I find it a shame to be on opposite sides of a goddess ..."
--
His offered hand went untouched. Diana had no idea what to do with the outstretched hand if he thought she was going to touch it, he was
delusional. There were very few people that Diana had ever touched. Though Goa’uld could be physical in their host’s bodies, Diana had retained
a personality of being rather standoffish. She had the mind set of a soldier and anything beyond that was rather foreign to her. She was also
the ‘virgin’ goddess. If she were to be seen in a wanton light, her aura would surely fade.
Flattery was also something that would also get him nowhere. Her dry eyes continued to glare at Max. Was he really trying to continue a
conversation with her? She had said she was not answering anything more from these people. Was that very hard to understand? Was she not
speaking plain whatever that these people spoke?
His attitude would be noted, though. He seemed to have a key interest beyond that of military and his comments to her would be something she
could use to her advantage possibly. She had never been one to flirt because Diana often thought a female body to be a hindrance. At this
instant, though, she was happy to have been forced into a female role. Her beauty seemed to be giving her a little bit of an upper hand with
this male.
“Where is this room I am supposed to be taken too?” Standing up slowly, Diana wondered if he would get the hint and stop trying to speak with
her. Being along with her thoughts was something that she thought would help her. The sooner she got to this room the better off she thought
she would be.
--
"The base has a bunch of tunnels built with pockets at the end for various purposes. The VIP guest area is in one of these ... just like the
detention center was. So, what do you think of the lady from corporate? A bit young ... but seems competent."
He held the door for her ... and a team of security guards were there.
"She's a bit of a cold fish, but you have to understand from out end we had our first away team slaughtered ... and by all appearances you're
buddies with the guys that did it. That's IF you didn't do it yourself on their behalf."
He shrugged.
"So ... I understand you don't want to give any strategic info away, but I'm a big of a mythology buff. Were your anscestors the REAL gods of
greek mythology? And the title gets passed down generation after generation? I wonder what it must have been like back then."
--
Moving around the table, Diana quietly moved towards the door. Her bare feet made no sounds on the cold concrete floor as she walked in silence
out the room. Glancing from guard to guard, she moved in silence with them as Max continued to speak next to her. Internally she rolled her
eyes. It was obvious that this man would not get a clue.
“I wish you would refrain from speaking of Ra as if he were my ‘buddy’.” Turning her head, she glanced at Max briefly. “I have no ‘buddies’.”
Leaving it at that, Diana refused to comment further on what her life was about. It was really none of his business.
Looking away from Max, she again followed the corridor as they walked. “What continent is this?...” Growing quiet for a moment, she thought it
might be best to simplify her question. It had been centuries since Diana had been on this world. It was no doubt that they continents would
have changed in name by now. “.. In relation to Greece… where are we?”
--
"We're not on the same continent as Greece, actually. Greece is no longer a major world power. In fact, it's having major financial issues at
the moment."
He looked to her ....
"While we can't give you your original clothing for fear of hidden technologies, I can have our people make you something in classic greek
styling if you like. Or any style you like - other than our own military."
He pulled a stick of gum, took one and offered her a piece.
"So, not buddies with Ra?"
Lord, he hoped they hadn't attacked some other group that were simply coming to pay tribute to the 'diety'.
"That kind of makes sense. Different pantheon and all that."
They came through to the corridor which led to the VIP suites. They were designed to mimic the executive suites at the Hilton.
"I'm afraid our young executive ... would you call her a prelate? ... insisted on guards being posted in the corridor. There's a lounge
adjacent to your suite for meeting people without letting them into your chambers."
--
Diana looked down at the gum that was offered. No attempt was made by her to take the object. Honestly she had no idea what it was. Seeing Max
unwrap a piece of his own and begin to chew it made her rather confused. Never before had she seen something like this and the act of just
chewing on something made her rather perplexed.
When they arrived at her door, she stopped in front of it and turned towards Max. “I find it rather unacceptable that you would strip me of my
own clothing and then offer me something of lesser value. In any other circumstance that would be considered stealing and the offender would be
punished properly. I want my clothing back.”
Diana’s eyes focused on the guards once more. Without asking, one of the guards reached out and opened up the door for her to enter. Without
looking at Max, Diana eyed the interior of the room. “You’re species has grown rather barbaric throughout the centuries.” Her eye again focused
on Max. “I would have never guessed that this is where you would end up.”
Without waiting for an answer from Max, Diana walked into the room. If Max followed her in, so be it. She was not going to give him an open
invitation and it seemed she had little freedom to deny him access as well. Stopping in the center of the room, she grew quiet as she surveyed
her accommodations.
A desk was to one end of the room, surrounded by several chairs. A bed, of rather dismal size stood promptly against an opposite wall. The room
was ok, to say the least. It was nothing she would have picked for herself, but it was better than being strapped to a gurney in a sickbay.
Many complaints formed in her mind, but she chose to bite her own tongue at this point.
--
He simply stood in the doorway, not entering.
"Taking a weapon from an enemy in a combat zone could be considered stealing also. Just as attacking an enemy with superior firepower before
they can attack might be considered assault. It might also be considered common sense. Our first team tried the friendly approach ... and were
nearly slaughtered. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."
He shrugged.
"You have to admit your soldiers, other than in style, are armed almost identically to Ra's troops. Now we have a dilema. Either you're an ally
of Ra's ... or we made a big though understandable mistake. In which case it would be foolish to let you go."
--
Turning abruptly, Diana’s mood grew rather dark. She detested be compared to Ra and the continuing comparison was starting to drive her insane.
The Olympian Guard was an elite force, nothing like the rabble that was use by Ra. Her Jaffa had honor. It was nothing that Ra’s Jaffa could
ever comprehend. Ra’s armies were low some creatures that would do anything for their god, even if that meant going against something sacred.
The Olympian Guard were duty bound by a tradition that spanned back many centuries.
In a low voice, she spoke directly towards Max. “It was foolish of you to attack me in the first place and it is foolish to keep me here any
longer. As the sands of time dissipate my Guard grows closer to this place. Do you with your own destruction? Because you action are speaking
very loudly that you do.”
Her hands clasped behind her back suddenly, her posture straightening. “We only share one thing in common… our species. Beyond that we are far
different… a complexity which I highly doubt you could grasp. I am nor will I ever consider myself an ally to Ra.”
Moving from the center of the room, her quiet steps took her back towards the door and to Max. “Ra is an enemy to you as he is to me. But
keeping me here you will only earn yourself another enemy… one that will see your destruction in swift action.”
It was no lie that the Olympian Guard had the reputation of being swift in their battles. Their decisive nature was something all the System
Lords loved and often wish were a part of their own Jaffa forces. Diana’s military tactics were rather legendary and only a fool would have
apposed them willingly. It was only a question now of if these people were that foolish.
--
He smiled slightly. Her dislike of Ra was readily apparent. And he was relieved she disliked him as much as they.
"That is what we wished to know. Now, if we do release you, what compensation can we make for the guards we mistakedly killed? And for your own
discomforts. You strike me as a soldier ... so you've doubtless suffered far worse, but still ... if what you say is true, we owe you for our
mistake."
--
Her mood seemed to calm down as Max spoke. With a temper as fiery as her hair, Diana often forgot to check her temper that the door. These
people were still ignorant, though, and that could be the key to their undoing. They would not last long with this Stargate technology if they
did not find the right beings to help them.
“I will consider this incident to be forgotten. There are more important things to attend to than sort of compensation for my discomfort. The
damage you and your people have caused will be hard enough to repair.”
It was apparent that Diana did not sugar coat anything. Any outlook would be spoken in a rather blunt way. There was never any beating around
the bush with her.
Turning around, Diana moved back into the room again. Her eyes again wander across her accommodations. “Leave me be. “ Diana spoke rather
abruptly over her shoulder. She needed time to think. This place left her with little option. Each idea would have to be thought through. This
was a no win situation right now, but Diana was confident that she could turn the tables in her favor.

He stood and bowed lightly. She seemed used to giving commands, and he had long ago learned to roll with the local customs.
"I'll relay your generous offer, goddess. And thank you."
(( Gorgan/Phanny - the offer is immediately relayed to y'all
that she was NOT an ally of Ra and offered non hostility in return for letting her go ))
